My preoccupation with constructing working clocks in Meccano stems from an early experience with a clock built from an Meccano Magazine article that I could never persuade to run for more than a few minutes at a time. There were problems with the condition of some of my parts and deficiencies in the instructions but it lead better things.
Interestingly enough, a member of our Melbourne Club asked me for advice on some aspects of clock construction at a recent meeting. He was constructing a similar clock and had encountered similar problems to those I faced years ago. It was good to be able to provide him with the information he needed.
